Good news from Friday's appointment

Guess how much I weigh now?

6 pounds 14 ounces - up 3 ounces from Wednesday - yay!!

ALL of those feeds around the clock paid off.
Sophie was a feeding, peeing and pooping machine for the last three days and while mom and dad were a bit exhausted it all paid off and we are so happy she is actually gaining weight again.

Guess what my bilirubin level is?

11.8 - down from 15.8 on Wednesday and down from 17 on Monday - double yay!!

Even though Sophie looked adorable all swaddled in the bilirubin blanket and she didn't seem to mind it one bit, we are grateful she no longer needs it and we can be more mobile with her.

Thanking God daily for this miracle baby and His grace with new parents :)

I'm Here! .....one week old

Hi everyone,

Here I am just minutes old. I weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and I was 19 1/2 inches long.
I'd say that's pretty good for coming into this world at just 36 weeks and 3 days.

First family photo, I think these two look legit.

I love the football hold and so does Dad.

This is me right after my bath. Who doesn't love a nice clean baby.

We had a wonderful nurse take care of mom and me.
We liked her so much we stayed an extra day just so she could make sure we were both strong and healthy enough to go home.

Home coming day.
My dad picked out this dress for me. I think he has nice taste don't you.

Awe....yep I make them pretty happy.

Home sweet home. As much as I like to eat I seem to keep losing weight. Mom is doing lots of feeds and dad is helping with supplemental feeds. Tomorrow we go back to the doctor to see how I'm doing.
I hope I get to stay home and don't have to go back to the hospital.

When I'm not eating I love love love to sleep.

 "You glow girl" - Dad

I also have jaundice and while my bilirubin level was very high I didn't have to go to the hospital. In fact, someone delivered this bilirubin blanket to my house. I wear it all day and all night. On Friday I have to get my foot pricked again for hopefully the last blood test to see if the bilirubin level went down.

Friday will be a big day for me. Either I'm on the up and up and I'm gaining weight and the jaundice is going away and get to stay home with mom and dad or I will be heading back to the hospital. Mom and Dad are saying lots of prayers for good news on Friday.

Look, I'm a human night light.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for me and for my mom and dad. They tell me I've brought a lot of joy  into their lives and that makes me happy. They also tell me I have a little angel named Elliott in heaven who is watching over me and who they love and miss dearly.

I'd say we are all pretty lucky to have each other and so very incredibly blessed.

Love, Sophie Claire

Continuing the tradition

I just finished Sophie's blanket, it's all ready for lots of snuggles and cuddles with her.

I started this tradition with Elliott. It saddened me so much to think we wouldn't have anything special for her when she was born. I couldn't bring myself to buy an outfit at the store that I knew some other sweet baby girl would have too. So I decided to crochet a blanket unique and special just for her. It helped to pass the time as well and as I would sit for hours crocheting each little square I would think about Elliott.

Elliott's blanket was maybe half the size of Sophie's and looking back on this picture reminds me of what a little peanut she was. Just 2 pounds 11 ounces. ... Sophie's going to seem so big!

As I was planning Sophie's blanket I decided to use the same color yarn as Elliott's blanket but without the blue and I created a new pattern. At first I thought it might make me sad to see a blanket so similar but seeing the finished product I think it will be just one more sweet reminder of Elliott.

One week to go!
