Family in town (a few weeks ago)

Finding time to blog just hasn't been high on my priority list these days and as I type this very sentence I have a sleeping baby in my left arm and I'm pecking along the keyboard with my right hand, and did I mention I'm a lefty. It's really become quiet entertaining how one adjusts to a new baby at home but it's all so very worth it. I wouldn't trade any of this for the world. Now on to the exciting stuff...

Sophie's been a busy little bee these past few weeks as her Aunt Leslie came for a nice long weekend visit followed by Nana & Papa's week long stay. I think she enjoyed the company, I know I sure did.

After a nice walk through Heritage Park in Canton we stopped at this gazebo for some pictures.

Second go at the play mat, first time with no tears.
We cheered as though she took her first step.
Is this where I insert #superproudparents, #watchoutwhenshedoestakethatfirststep

Looking good Dad.

Sophie was wide awake the other evening so we couldn't resist getting in a few selfies

Yay! my parents came to visit and were a huge help.
Thanks Nana & Papa

First visit to the Detroit Zoo.
We participated in the Walk for Kids with Rainbow Connection,
an organization that grants wishes to kids with life threatening illnesses.

The weather was perfect, nice and cool in the morning
and warmed right up by the time we were ready to leave.

Sophie's Original Due Date

Today could have been the big day but we were fortunate to meet this little peanut a few weeks early. We are so thankful she was born healthy with no complications. God answered our prayers and while we waited a long time for this beautiful girl we know His timing is always perfect. Sophie has made a huge impact on our lives and has been a true blessing. We are so thankful for her.

Two week stats and some pretty adorable pictures

Friday was Sophie's two week well baby check up and baby girl is a growing. Weighing in at 7 pounds 7 ounces y'all! That's right, Sophie has surpassed her birth weight and she measured 20 1/2 inches, one entire inch longer than birth length.

The pediatrician said she still is a little jaundiced but nothing to be concerned about and finally all of the foot pricks are done.

We are so thankful she's over the hump with both the jaundice and weight loss and is doing so much better. We are right on schedule for her two month check up.

This past week Sophie had a special week long visit by her Grandma Nelms. Thanks Gram for spending so much time with Sophie, she loved all of the snuggle time and will miss you.

Grandpa Nelms and Great Grandma Nelms came to visit on Saturday as well.

The life of a two week old....

Not a huge fan of bath time but I think she'll get there
